6 million Pakistanis living below poverty line rings warning bell for future
Around 2.26 crore children lack the right to basic education.
(Web-Desk) – Pakistan is one of those poverty stricken countries in the world where people lack even basic facilities for a normal living. According to the recent statistical report, 6 million of the total population of Pakistan are living below the poverty line which is something so alarming in relevance to the future.
Considering it factual, around 2.26 crore children lack the right to basic education while something which is much more eye opening is that every 11th child dies before reaching to 5 years of age. Moreover, every year around 9700 women expire during maternity period while 44 percent of the children belonging to age group of less than 5 years had to face inappropriate mental growth following malnutrition.
According to the statistics of Department for International Development in UK, it is quite necessary to have growth rate more than 7 percent of the economy in the rapidly growing population of the country in order to improve the quality of life, provision of job opportunities to youth and facilities to public.
As per the British Institute’s report, the third part of the total population is compelled to live below poverty line while two-thirds of women cannot read or write.
It has been further elaborated in the report that unequal distribution of natural resources, the monopoly of ineligible people, the religion and gender-based dispersal of resources and fanaticism are great impediments in the development of the country.
In addition, apart from being the victim to natural disasters and its consequences, management of a large number of refugees living in the region is another challenge hindering the process of growth of the country.
All of these factors are ringing a warning bell for the future as there is not a single but many challenges to be met before reaching up to the level of stepping towards the development of the country. A proper economic strategy and a responsible leadership that could sincerely put efforts towards achieving the growth goals for the people of the nation, is required on urgent basis.
The awareness campaigns should also be launched across Pakistan in order to make people aware of these bitter facts so that they can contribute towards the development of country as much as possible instead of merely relying on the government. They need to be educated properly in this regard and should be mobilized practically so that it could become somewhat convenient to overcome sky high challenges.
