Construction of dams imperative for Pakistan: CJP

LONDON (Dunya News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar stressed on Wednesday that the construction of dams is imperative for Pakistan.

The CJP visited the committee room of Britain parliament on the invitation of UK parliamentarian Afzal Khan.

Talking to Pakistan-born members of British Parliament in London, he said that Kalabagh dam was surrounded by controversies therefore; it was decided to construct Diamer Bhasha Dam.

He appealed overseas Pakistanis to donate in the dam fund as they are a major requirement.

The CJP warned that the unresolved water crisis will force the people to migrate from the country if not addressed timely.

He thanked overseas Pakistani for helping the country in every hour of need.

Justice Saqib Nisar also visited the British Parliament and witnessed the Question-Answer session of the house.

The CJP is on a tour to Britain from November 20 to 28 and is also scheduled to attend five gatherings in London and Manchester to raise funds for the construction of the dams.

Supreme Court lawyer Zafar Iqbal Lalanori is accompanying the CJP during the fund raising campaign in Britain.
