Pakpattan DPO case: SC directs Punjab CM, others to tender apology afresh
CJP has rejected previously submitted replies of CM Buzdar, Kaleem Imam and Ahsan Jameel Gujjar.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Monday has directed Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Usman Buzdar, former Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam and Ahsan Jameel Gujjar to re-submit apology in black and white in Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal transfer case.
During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar rejected the previously submitted replies of CM Buzdar, Kaleem Imam and Ahsan Jameel Gujjar in the case.
Earlier, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Chairman Mehr Khalid Dad Lak had presented an inquiry report of the case in Supreme Court.
The report had revealed political influence was exercised by Punjab CM to transfer Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal.
It is to be mentioned here that the transfer came in the backdrop of an altercation of First Lady Bushra Imran‘s ex-husband Khawar Fareed Manika with Gondal over alleged mistreatment of police personnel with his son and daughter while they were heading to Pakpattan in a car.
On August 31, the top judge had taken suo motu notice of the transfer of DPO Gondal and appointed former Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam to inquire the case and submit report.
The report which cleared CM Buzdar of charge of influencing the case and transfer was rejected by SC.
