Infuriated Social media erupts with the admonishing reactions for mocking Kulsoom Nawaz illness

(WebDesk) - After the demise of former first lady and wife of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s ailing wife, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, a burning debate over social media fired up when a known supporter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and anchorperson and actor Hamza Ali Abbasi within few moments after the news had broken, took to the twitter and in a piercing tone, along with the mere condolences emphasizing to not sympathize with Sharif’s family and others for former first lady s death can be used by PMLN for political gains.

He had a history of mocking and bashing Sharif family and alleged former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and her daughter Maryam Nawaz for using former first lady Begum Kalsoom Nawaz illness for garnering political sympathy. After his tweets, he has received a stern backlash. Social media admonished Abbasi for his distasteful, insensitive and objectionable comments on the demise of the Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

He later had to clarify that he did not mean to hurt the feelings of the deceased’s family and loved ones which further went wrong and the angry and lamented PMLN supporters, followers, leaders and a large number of social media users reprimanded Abbasi and others over their insensitivity and callousness and demand an apology from all who during a whole year of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s suffering due to throat cancer, had been making fun, falsifying and ridiculing her ailment since then.

Later in a TV show, he told the journalist and anchorperson that doubting the Kulsoom Nawaz illness is justified as neither media persons nor any one was allowed to visit her. Also there are many other examples of such politically garnered sympathies by politicians and others from former President Musharaf, Dr Asim to Sharjeel Memon.

A large number of social media users from all walk of life condemned such reckless and heedless attitude towards the lamented family and extended their condolences to the departed soul’s family and near ones.

Later, the veteran politician and PPP loyalist Aitizaz Ahsan after the death news of former first lady surfaced, appeared on different news outlets and unconditionally apologized and regretted over his remarks. He said that he is bemoaned over his analysis and a hyped anguish over the ailment of late Begum Kulsoom Nawaz despite got an opportunity and a condition put forth by PMLN to support him for the Presidential elections 2018. Aitzaz had doubted the illness of the former first lady and said “Harley Street Clinic is owned and operated by Sharif family.”

Commenting on the demise of the former first lady, Aitzaz said he is saddened that he could not apologise to Sharif family in Kulsoom’s life.

An appreciating and admonishing fusion of reactions were seen on social media. Politicians, Journalists, media persons, showbiz artists and other civil society members on social media asked all those politicians, media persons and media houses to tender an apology for running a baseless and maligning propaganda campaign against the former first lady.

There were many PMLN’s disgruntled leadership who later joined other parties, political rivals, few of the media persons, even the media houses and opponents had been disdaining Sharifs and PMLN leadership for faking Begum Kulsoom Nawaz illness to relieve them from imminent chastisement in the corruption cases filed with NAB against them.

Kulsoom Nawaz, 68, who was first lady of Pakistan three times, was diagnosed with lymphoma in August last year and had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in London for months.

Conspiracy theories claiming that former first lady -  the ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was actually healthy, and that the Sharifs were faking her illness to gain sympathy, swirled in the final weeks of the acrimonious campaign.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz had been at her husband s side throughout his decades-long political career, which saw him become prime minister of Pakistan three times while facing military coups, prison and exile.

Earlier, former Prime Minister during his premiership when went to London for his open heart surgery and a lot of the same lot of the politicians, media persons and known personalities derided him for his open heart surgery.
