RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid’s nephew Rashid Shafique on Wednesday submitted nomination papers for by-poll in Rawalpindi NA-60.

However, local PTI leaders also submitted apiece for contesting elections. The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sajjad Khan will submit his nomination papers on Thursday.

The last date for submitting nomination papers is August 30. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will scrutinize papers. The final list of candidates will be issued on Sep 15 whereas polling will be held on Oct-14.

The election in the constituency was suspended after disqualification of PML-N’s candidate Hanif Abbasi in ephirdrine quota case. An anti-narcotics court had handed over life-imprisonment to Abbasi in the case.

In the July 25 election, the AML president was a candidate for NA-60 and NA-62. He won the NA-62 seat and wanted to field his nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafique in the by-election for NA-60.
