Adiala Photo Leaks: Committee completes investigation
Hanif Abbasi shifted from Rawalpindis Adiala to Attock jail
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A two-member committee formed by the Punjab government to probe into the matter of photos of Nawaz Sharif and Hanif Abbasi, has completed it report.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the man, who was sitting on jailer’s seat along with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi and others in the picture, was not Jail Superintendent but Deputy Inspector General Prisons Rawalpindi Naveed Rauf.
In the light of the report, the committee conducted a search operation in eight barracks in Adiala jail over the leak pictures of prisoner Hanif Abbasi with Nawaz Sharif and others but couldn’t recover any evidence.
Sources said that the inquiry committee has presented its investigation report to IG Prison.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Hanif Abbasi was also shifted from Rawalpindi’s Adiala to Attock jail.
Earlier, following the uproar over the presence of Abbasi outside his cell, Inspector General (IG) Prisons Punjab had ordered an inquiry into the matter and issued a notification.
