The electricity shortfall is causing 5 to 9 hours load shedding across the country.

According to the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), the demand of the power supply has reached 14,000MW per day, while only 11,000MW power is being generated from all available resources. The PEPCO officials said that 700MW power was being provided to the Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC).They said the power generation had decreased due to low flow of water in water reservoirs. They stated that Independent Power Plants (IPPs) and rental power plants were adding 5,361MW and 62MW to the system.
