MQM lawmaker Shazia Javed overdoses on sleeping pills in alleged suicide attempt
MQM MPA was taken to hospital after she allegedly overdosed on sleeping pills to commit suicide.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member of Sindh assembly Shazia Javed was taken to hospital after she allegedly overdosed on sleeping pills in an attempt to commit suicide.
The whole affair is shrouded in mystery as her family and MQM colleagues’ explanations conflict with each other.
According to her son, Shazia had been depressed for days due to MQM internecine infighting and also had a breathing problem for which she was taken to hospital. He denied reports that she had been contemplating leaving MQM and joining PPP.
On the other hand, according to MQM leader Amin ul Haq, Shazia had been depressed due to allegations of taking money to vote for PPP. In this regard, a video message from Shazia had also surfaced in which she deemed allegations of voting for PPP as baseless.
Abbasi Hospital sources told Dunya News that Shazia was brought to hospital in state of unconsciousness. They told that she was recuperating fast.
According to Baldia SHO Chaudhry Aslam, the police have not received the medical report yet. They have been told that it was a suicide attempt so they are looking into it.
