Ahsan Iqbal must resign on Faizalabad sit-in issue: PTI spokesperson
PTI spokesperson asked if not Ahsan Iqbal then who is responsible for the martyrdom of policeman
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry held Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal responsible for the Faizabad sit-in and operation that caused countrywide protests by religious groups along with political chaos.
Talking to media on Monday, the PTI leader asked if not the Ahsan Iqbal then who is responsible for the martyrdom of policeman. He criticised the federal government, claiming that the political reputation of the rulers has diminished.
“Is it a joke that the sit-in was organised by the backing of Federal Interior Minister. Such an impression was given to the world that there is no government in the sixth largest country and atomic power,” he added.
He persisted that if someone is to resign on the matter then it should be Ahsan Iqbal. “The interior minister should be ashamed of himself for letting police and FC officials get injured due to the operation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the religious parties staging a sit-in protest at the Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad have decided to call off their protest after reaching an agreement with government. More than 200 people were injured after the Islamabad operation which caused countrywide protests.
Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday has accepted resignation of Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid, the lawmaker accused of introducing excluding anti-blasphemy clauses from the election rules. The electoral reforms bill was restored to its original form by both houses of parliament.
