RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Pakistan army shot down an Indian spy drone for violating the LoC. According to ISPR DG, the drone was targetted near the Rakh Chakri sector.

ISPR DG Asif Ghafoor also informed that the drone’s debris has been taken into custody, adding that Quadcopter was spying in Pakistani territory near Rakh Chakri sector.

This is not the first time Indian drones have violated Pakistani airspace only to be shot down the Pak Army. In November, an Indian drone was targetted by Pakistani troops at the Aagahi post area in the same Rakh Chakri sector.

In another incident in the mid of July, an Indian spy drone, was shot down in the Bhimber area near the LoC after infiltrating the Pakistani territory.

The drones are often used by Indian Army to recon Pakistani positions across the Line of Control to determine troop movement. Tensions along the LoC have significantly increased after the government of Narendra Modi came to power.

The shoot-down of the Indian drone came the same day the Foreign Office opposed the US-India Armed drones agreement, adding that the move will disturb the balance of power in the region.
