Qaim Ali Shah calls on PM Nawaz to discuss Sindh security

The Chief Minister is expected to discuss the issue Rangers powers.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today (Wednesday) and discussed overall security situation in the province.

Federal Ministers Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Ishaq Dar as well as provincial ministers Murad Ali Shah and Sohail Anwar Siyyal are also present in the meeting. 

The Chief Minister is expected to discuss the issue of extension in special powers granted to the Rangers.

PM Nawaz had earlier on Monday invited CM Sindh to visit Islamabad to discuss the issue at hand. 

Before leaving for the Federal capital, CM Sindh had chaired a high level meeting in Karachi to discuss the issue of Rangers‘ powers in Sindh.

Qaim Ali Shah said that the provinces have every right to give powers to a federal institution on their own conditions. He stated that the federation cannot reject the resolution passed by Sindh Assembly according to the Article-147.

It was also decided in the meeting that the federal government should be asked to pay nine billion rupees as Sindh government has spent 19 billion rupees on Rangers from last two years.
