Sartaj Aziz says rumors of Mullah Omar's death in Pakistan were misleading, he died in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Report on former Taliban leader Mullah Omar’s death was on Tuesday presented in Senate. The report has vindicated Pakistan’s stance on the matter. Advisor to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that the reports of Taliban leader dying in Pakistan were misleading. He said that Mullah Omar died and was buried in Afghanistan, reported Dunya News.

The report says that the talks between Afghan government and Taliban were cancelled upon rumors of Mullah Omar’s death in a Karachi hospital but the statement by Mullah Omar’s son 2 days back vindicated Pakistan’s stance. According to Omar’s son, the Taliban leader died and was buried in Afghanistan.

Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan is trying to get leadership issues between Taliban resolved so that the talks between Taliban and Afghan government can start again from where they had broken off.
