Model Town tragedy: Didn't order to use force against PAT workers, clarifies Shahbaz

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday has recorded his statement before Joint Investigation Team (JIT) made to probe into Model Town vandalism.

CM Punjab in his statement clarified that he was unaware of the operation that was carried out against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) activists and stated that he got to know about the incident the next morning from TV.

 I at once ordered to stop the Model Town operation after getting the report , he added.

Earlier on June 17, 2014, at least 14 PAT workers were killed and 90 others sustained injuries in clashes with Lahore police.PAT Chief Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri condemned the incident and demanded a formation of JIT to investigate the incident.

Keeping in view PAT’s demand, Punjab government made JIT however, PAT leadership still continued rejecting the JIT and didn’t pay any visit to record their statements.
