The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of petitions against the 18th amendment till tomorrow, Dunya News reported on Tuesday. A 17-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case. The governments advocate Mehmood A Shaikh submitted an unconditional apology in the court. During the course of hearing, Justice Jawad S Khawaja queried whether the draft of the 18th constitutional amendment was available in other regional languages other than Urdu, governments counsel Akram Sheikh replied in negative. Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jillani asked Akram whether the executive in England interfered in judicial matters or not. Akram told the court that in UK, executive and judiciary did not interfere in each others matters. Federations lawyer Waseem Sajjad told the court that Raza Rabbani would like to defend the amendment case in the court. On this, the Chief Justice said that Rabbani is allowed to appear before the court, adding that the court would be pleased to hear him.
