Third suspect arrested in Areeba murder case

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Investigation of Areeba s murder is underway in Lahore as police officers on the identification of detained key suspect Tooba, have claimed of apprehending third suspect Farooq, a bank officer at a private bank, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Rana Ayaz Saleem revealed that Abeera aka Areeba, student of Punjab University, had a passion of becoming a model which is why she went to meet Tooba, a make-up artist, in Johar Town on January 12 where she was raped and killed.
Police sources reported that the detained Uzma Rao aka Tooba told that her friend Farooq took Areeba to a room where they had a quarrel on some issue.
She said that the suspect Farooq was continuously asking Areeba to fulfill unknown promise whereas Areeba was screaming at him.

Officers further told that Tooba has confessed that her friend Areeba was killed by Farooq and her body was dumped at the Shera Kot bus station with the help of a rakshaw driver Aslam the very next day.
Accused Farooq has been shifted to some undisclosed place for interrogation.
According to sources, police have gathered important documents, pictures and other evidences from the house of Areeba which would be helpful in solving the case.
Meanwhile, Areeba’s sister told Dunya News that they had a talk with Areeba for the last time on January 11 at 10 pm whereas her brother Zohaib alleged Tooba of being a professional killer and revealed that as many as six suspects were involved in Areeba’s murder.
Zohaib also requested Areeba’s body to be exhumed so that it can be buried in her native town Sialkot.
Police have prepared initial report on Areeba murder case stating the possibility of excess drugs intake as a cause of death whereas no signs of torture found on the body.
Moreover, for the confirmation of actual cause of death, Areeba’s body parts have been sent to forensic lab.
Police have recovered the mobile data of the victim according to which, Areeba and Tooba became friends on December 30, 2014.
The data further revealed that Areeba was shifted to Tooba’s house one day before her murder.
According to Tooba’s statement, Areeba had a close friend Moeed whose search is underway.
