LHC accepts petition seeking ban on PPP, PML-N and JUI
The petition suggests banning PPP, PML-N and JUI-F for not holding party elections.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) declared petition to ban Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) for not holding party elections admissible on Wednesday.
Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Lawyer’s Wing Gohar Nawaz Sindhu filed a petition on October 28 (Tuesday) at LHC to ban PPP, PML-N and JUI-F for not holding party elections, which is a clear violation of Party Act.
These political parties should therefore be barred from contesting the elections, the petitioner added.
Registrar Office had raised objection and advised to take the issue to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) whereas on pleading yet again, Justice Nasir Ali Shah dismissed Registrar Office’s objection and declared the petition admissible today.
