"I have asked the PM to solve the crisis politically" - Former President
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Former President Asif Ali Zardari has said that only dialogue is the solution to current political situation of the country. Asif Zardari met Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi in Lahore today (Saturday).
Talking to press conference after the meeting, Co-Chairperson Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari said that PPP’s mandate was his responsibility and that he stood for nobody but Pakistan. He said that he has requested Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to keep his cool and work in political manner. “I met JI leader Sirajul Haq today. I told him that dialogue is the only solution. He asked me what if one of the parties does not agree with the other. I told him that in such a case, we shall have more dialogue”, said Zardari
Former President said that he did not handover his powers to the Parliament House without any pressure. He said that he stood for the philosophy of PPP’s founder Asif Ali Zardari. He said that he constantly remained in touch with the political situation prevailing in the country, being Pakistani.
Asif Zardari said that we all must support our armed forces at this time when they are fighting against the menace of terrorism. He said that he always solved political crisis politically. He said that Pakistan’s democracy was immature and it must be allowed to mature.
Responding to a question, Zardari said that conspiracies are part of politics. He said that politicians will solve the political crises and no ‘third umpire’ was present. He said that he has met Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) leader Fazalur Rehman, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) leader Sirajul Haq and PML-Q leaders today, only to find out a political situation of the current situation.
When asked if he would term the resignations by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) as their immaturity, Zardari said that everyone had the right to take its position. He said that democracy must not be derailed. He said that PTI has a government in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KPK) while Pakistan Muslim League (N) ruled the federation. He said that one democratic government should not attack another democratic government.
Speaking to a press conference separately, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that people come and go but democracy must not be compromised. He said that he talked to the former President about the current situation of the country.
Former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi told the media on this occasion that both parties have decided to take only the steps that were allowed under the constitution. Pervez Elahi told that he conveyed Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s message to the former president.
Pervez Elahi said that PMLN had never made any sacrifices for democracy. He said that it was not democracy that was going to be derailed but Sharif family.
Talking about Model Town Tragedy, Pervez Elahi told that Asif Zardari also felt aggrieved for that incident.
“Sharif family has been ruling for the last 17 years, they must resign now”, said Pervez Elahi.
