LHC issues notices to Imran Khan, Tahirul Qadri and Chaudhry brothers against Long March petition.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notices to Imran Khan, Tahirul Qadri, Chaudhry Shujaat, Pervez Elahi and Sheikh Rasheed on a petition filed against Long March on Monday, Dunya News reported. According to Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan the government should end the political rift through dialogue. He said that in case the government is forced to plead Imran Khan to call off his march, it must.

The three-member bench of Lahore High Court led by Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan heard the case filed against PTI’s Long March. The petitioner’s lawyer A.K. Dogar said that Long March will lead to chaos in the country and therefore, the court must order to stop the march. Responding him, Justice Khalid Mehmood said that the country’s sovereignty and security is at stake and even if the government has to fall at Imran Khan’s feet to convince him, it must. The country will collapse if the government continues to hang onto its ego problems, he remarked. Justice Khalid said that the government was elected after winning a two-third majority; therefore, it can conveniently tackle issues through dialogue. Everybody has a constitutional right to protest but action must be taken against those raising arms against the government, said Justice Khalid Mehmood.

Additional Attorney General told the court that Prime Minister was ready to contact Imran Khan for a dialogue, and in fact, he has no ego issues with having negotiations even. The court adjourned the ongoing hearing of the case till tomorrow while ordering to issue notices to all involved in the case including Imran Khan.

Earlier, Lahore High Court on orders of Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan rejected the petition filed against barriers erected on roads leading to Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town of Lahore. Criticizing the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) activists, Justice Khalid Mehmood remarked that citizens have a right to hold protests but inciting violence and provoking the public how Qadri did in his speech yesterday is not acceptable. Expressing concern over media’s coverage of Tahirul Qadri’s speech yesterday he said that he is surprised. The court was adjourned till tomorrow after Justice Khalid Mehmood referred the petition to LHC Chief Justice.
