Pak Army general to lead UN peacekeeping operation

A graduate of Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Lieutenant General Ahmed was born in 1957.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has appointment Lieutenant General Maqsood Ahmed as the Military Adviser for Peacekeeping Operations.
Maqsood will replacing Senegal’s Lieutenant General Babacar Gaye, whose tenure ended on 8 July.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed had served as corps commander in Pakistan’s Armed Forces. Among his other military appointments, he served a UN peacekeeping tour of duty in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) in 2005 and 2006.
