NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Pakistan has urged the United Nations to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its resolutions to ensure regional peace.
Speaking during a debate at Security Council, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi said the people of Kashmir were promised that they would be given right to self-determination, but unfortunately they were denied their right despite passing of several years.
Tariq Fatemi said that it is the responsibility of the Security Council to ensure this right of the Kashmiri people.
He said the people of India-occupied Kashmir were being subjected to cruelty and suppression by the Indian troops.
He added that regional peace could not prevail unless Kashmir dispute is resolved as per the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
