Rescue, relief activities underway in rain and flood-hit areas

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Rescue and relief activities are continuing in rain and flood hit areas in all the four provinces.

 

Pakistan Army‚ Navy and local administration have accelerated their emergency relief operation in rain-affected areas of Karachi including Amroha Society, Saadi Town, Sunlay Cottages and adjoining areas.

 

A body of 12-year-old was found from Lyari nullah near Meeran Naaka whereas two unidentified bodies were found from Malir Nadi in Manzoor Colony area of Mehmoodabad.

 

Life is returning to normalcy in several areas including Buffer Zone, North Karachi, New Karachi, Federal B area, North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad and other areas, however, electricity supply remained suspended in the affected areas.

 

Pakistan Navy has set up relief camps in Jalbani Town and Gadap Town areas.

 

Sindh Rangers has also set up a relief camp in Lasi Goth to provide relief to the rain-hit affectees.

 

ISPR reported that army troops have rescued over three hundred trapped persons in the rain-hit areas of Karachi and provided urgent rations support to them.

 

On the other hand, Punjab government has dispatched 94 trucks carrying essential commodities to the flood affected areas of Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.

 

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has taken measures to control the situation and compensate the affected people. It has dispatched consignments of relief goods containing tents‚ blankets and big cans of clean drinking water to the flood-hit areas of Chitral‚ Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.

 

In Balochistan‚ the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has stepped up relief activities in flood hit areas of the province and dispatched several consignments of relief goods for flood victims in Jhal Mgsi‚ Bolan and Jaffarabad districts.

 

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has said the government will make all out efforts for well being of rain victims in the province.

 

In a statement in Quetta‚ he appreciated the performance of government agencies in flood hit areas of the province. He said the situation is under control in affected areas due to their timely efforts.
