Election tribunals deal another blow to Musharraf
Pervez Musharraf has already been disqualified in NA-139 and NA-250 constituency.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - The Election Tribunal on Tuesday rejected the appeal submitted by former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf against the rejection of his nomination papers in NA-48 constituency (Islamabad-I).
The returning officer had rejected Musharraf’s nomination after objections were raised on it saying the retired general had subverted the Constitution as army chief and had illegally placed judges under house arrest.
Later, Musharraf’s appeal for NA-139 (Kasur-II) was also rejected by an election tribunal in Lahore. The tribunal said the former president had abrogated the Constitution thrice and thus did not qualify to contest in the coming general election.
The nomination papers of Pervez Musharraf for NA-139 and NA-250 have already been rejected while his nomination papers for NA-32 constituency in Chitral have been challenged by the PML-N and PTI.
