Courts could be moved on certain charges against president: SC
The SC says ambassadors get immunity for representing the president and the state.
Under some specific charges ambassadors or president could be tried, said the Supreme Court.Aitzaz, on the other hand, insisted state officials, instead of individuals merit immunity. While arguing in PM contempt case, PM’s attorney Aitzaz Ahsan said Belgium issued arrests warrants for Congo’s foreign minister but International Court of Justice (ICJ) cancelled the warrants and recognized the immunity of the FM.On this Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that the ICJ issued arrest warrants of the Sudanese president. Aitzaz answered back and said the ICJ can act in case of war crimes or massacre. He added that the case under consideration did not fall in that category. The French court summoned Djibouti’s president as witness but the international court granted immunity to him, argued Aitzaz.
