Summary Samiya Khan has denied viral social media claims that Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali was assaulted in India, saying the couple has not visited the country in three years.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali's wife, Samiya Khan, has rejected viral social media claims alleging that the cricketer was assaulted in India after being caught pickpocketing on a train, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The rumours emerged after a video circulated on several Indian social media pages claiming Hasan Ali had been beaten in India. However, the person seen in the footage is a different individual and bears little resemblance to the Pakistan pacer.
Responding to the viral claims, Samiya Khan said she and Hasan Ali had not visited India in the past three years. She also stressed that electronic, social and digital media platforms in both countries should verify information before publishing or sharing it.
In a post shared on Instagram, Samiya expressed disappointment over the spread of unverified reports, saying people often believe and forward false information without checking its authenticity.
She remarked that it had been three years since they last visited India and jokingly suggested that people there seemed to miss them and were finding excuses to talk about them.
Meanwhile, several Pakistani social media users criticised Indian media outlets and social media pages for circulating the video, arguing that the individual in the footage did not closely resemble Hasan Ali. Some users also described the spread of unverified information as irresponsible.
Hasan Ali, a right-arm fast bowler, was a key member of Pakistan's ICC Champions Trophy-winning squad in 2017. His match-winning figures of 3 for 19 against India in the final remain among the most memorable performances of his career. He also claimed a five-wicket haul against South Africa during a Test series in 2021.
The cricketer married Indian national Samiya Khan in 2019, and the couple has three daughters.
