(Web Desk) - Despite the importance given to this issue due to the sensitivity of the matter, women in showiz continue to suffer from ageism.

Recently, Pakistani actor Sania Saeed brought attention to the dearth of opportunities for older women in acting despite the abundance of experiences they have to offer.

Iffat Omar is an additional voice that has joined the opposition to age- and gender-related prejudices. The former Pakistani model and actor made a daring and powerful step when she posted a colourful video montage of herself wearing a stunning pink saree on Instagram.

"Meri age meri marzi (my age my choice) so please go live your life and stop schooling me on how should I act according to my age" was a poignant caption that accompanied the montage.

She has also discussed her opinions on feminism and Pakistani politics, as well as her experience working in the media.

Iffat also talked about the prevalent culture in Pakistan regarding the wide range of dramas in the Urdu language. The Berukhi actor also talked about her experiences as an actor in Karachi, where she encountered some ‘elitist crowd(s)’ who ridiculed her for her Punjabi accent, her limited command of Urdu, and other things in addition to her lack of English proficiency.
