(Web Desk) - Music icon Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has filed a criminal complaint against his former manager, Salman Ahmed, accusing him of blackmail and unauthorised use of his YouTube channel.

Rahat lodged the complaint with the Cyber Crime Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Lahore, accompanied by his lawyer Zain Qureshi and singer Waris Baig.

In the complaint, Rahat stated that Salman Ahmed, whom he had hired to manage his professional affairs, was now blackmailing and defaming him.

Ahmed allegedly threatened to ruin Rahat’s career by releasing damaging videos unless Rahat continued working with him.

The dispute between Rahat and Ahmed began when Rahat announced his decision to switch to a new management team, ending their 12-year association.

Following this announcement, a video surfaced showing Rahat physically assaulting one of his band members, with Rahat’s new management suggesting that Ahmed had orchestrated the leak to tarnish Rahat’s reputation.

Rahat also accused Ahmed of unlawfully taking control of his YouTube channel, which boasts nearly eight million subscribers. Despite originally entrusting Ahmed with managing the channel, Rahat claimed that Ahmed later changed the login credentials and name of the channel without authorization.

Rahat asserted that Ahmed’s actions had caused him significant financial losses and irreparable harm to his reputation. Rahat further accused Ahmed of blackmail and cyberstalking, stating that Ahmed continued to use Rahat’s name and videos on the channel without consent.

In addition to the allegations of blackmail and unauthorized use of the YouTube channel, Rahat accused Ahmed of defaming him through media publications and threatened to release more damaging videos if Rahat opposed his blackmail attempts.

Rahat requested a thorough investigation into Ahmed’s actions and called for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under various sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act and the Pakistan Penal Code.

On his part, Ahmed denied Rahat’s allegations and expressed regret over the sour end to their 12-year professional relationship.
