Pakistani models set to participate in 'Miss Universe' contest

More than 60 countries have already named their representatives for Miss Universe 2023

(Web Desk) - Five Pakistani models are going to take the name of the country first time in the “Miss Universe” pageant to be held in El Salvador this year. 

More than 60 countries have already named their representatives for Miss Universe 2023. The month-long event will culminate in a grand finale on Nov 18, when the current title holder, Urbani Nola Gabriel from America, will crown her successor. 

The Miss Universe is the world’s most popular beauty contest and first-time top models of Pakistan have been announced for the event. The models are 24-year-old Erica Rabin from Karachi, 24-year-old Hira Inam from Lahore, 28-year-old Jessica Wilson from Rawalpindi, 19-year-old US-born Malika Alvi and 26-year-old Sabrina Wasim from Punjab.

These Pakistani models were selected from a pool of more than 200 applicants hailing from various parts of the world.

Josh Ugen, National Director of Miss Universe Pakistan, said, “For the first time in the history of the biggest pageant of its kind, an empowered woman will carry the name of Pakistan in her heart.” 

Erica Robin wants to be an instrument to see positive change in Pakistan and highlight the country’s diversity, advocates for education and women empowerment.

Hira Inam, sharing her views, said her life goal was success. She is hopeful to accumulate funds, raise awareness and help end poverty with the help of education for deprived segment of society in Pakistan.

Jessica Wilson is a cyber security engineer, a passionate traveller, public speaker and performing artist.

Malika Alvi is the youngest model who is going to represent Pakistan in the contest. Elaborating on the definition of success, she said success had multiple identities. Pakistani-American Alvi is a student, entrepreneur, content writer, dancer and fashion designer as well.

She is very much eager to show people globally that Pakistani women are talented and leaders. 

Sabrina Wasim, a property consultant, choreographer and event host, wishes to change the perspective about Pakistani women. She wants to highlight that the women of Pakistan are strong, dynamic, courageous and deserve to sit in a room where their voices are heard and their opinions count enough to bring about change.
