Political-military leadership agree to move in one direction in war against terrorism

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - A high-level meeting was held at Corps Headquarters Peshawar to review the overall security situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for Interior, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the National Security Adviser, the Corps Commander Peshawar, as well as senior civil and military officials.
According to sources, the political and military leadership agreed to move in one unified direction in the fight against terrorism.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other stakeholders was cordial. The chief minister and cabinet members also had lunch at the Corps Headquarters.
During the meeting on law and order, tributes were paid to civilians and security personnel who were martyred in incidents of terrorism.
It was decided in the meeting that PSL (Pakistan Super League) matches scheduled for this year will be held in Peshawar.
The meeting decided that the provincial government’s administrative system will be immediately implemented as a model in the Malakand Division under the supervision of the provincial police and other provincial institutions. Subsequently, this successful model will be implemented in phases in the affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram.
It was decided to form a special sub-committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister to ensure effective monitoring of all development projects launched in these districts and to review any military operations. The committee will hold review meetings on a monthly basis.
This special sub-committee, headed by the Chief Minister, will include elected public representatives, the Corps Commander Peshawar, the Chief Secretary, the Inspector General of Police, provincial officials, as well as representatives of federal institutions.
The meeting decided that, in addition to monitoring governance and development projects in these districts, the special sub-committee will create opportunities for alternative employment to ensure sustainable income for the local population. It will also make effective arrangements to address the issues of temporarily displaced persons.
Through effective coordination between the federal government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, complete harmony and a unified stance will be ensured on key policy matters to tackle the serious issue of terrorism.
Sustainable employment opportunities will be created to prevent extremist thinking among youth and to promote positive mindsets.
The meeting decided to continue strict action against illegal activities such as unauthorized SIM cards, explosives, and extortion. Additionally, phased profiling of non-custom-paid vehicles will also be focused on.
