Madonna premieres her royal drama, W.E. at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Madonna was mobbed by the media and fans as she arrived at the red carpet for the premiere of her directorial feature, W.E. in Toronto. The actress greeted fans and signed a few autographs before turning her attention to the press.W.E., which is screening as part of the Toronto Film Festival, recalls the love story of American Wallis Simpson and Britains King Edward VIII, who abdicated the thrown to be with her. The film vacillates between the historical love affair and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.Madonna said that when it comes to making movies, she is a very hands on director.I do a lot of research. I come prepared. I make sure all the heads of the departments know what Im doing the day before, so we spend as much time making the film and little time making mistakes, misunderstanding one and another. So yeah, Im really a detail freak, everything: the lamp, the table, the carpet, the drapes.W.E is the singers second time behind the lens: she directed 2008s Filth and Wisdom. She said to expect to see her in the role even more - shes caught the directing bug.Its invaded my body, said Madonna. It gives me the chance to tell the story through lots of other people and with a lot of other peoples incredible skills from the costume designer to the production designer to the actors and the way that they have interpreted the lines that Ive written, the music, the score. Its really exciting putting all the art forms I love together on one thing.W.E. has received mixed reviews from critics. It will hit theaters in prime Oscar time on December 09.
