Sanjay Leela Bhansali attacked over 'Padmavati' scene

Miscreants stormed the set in Jaipur and stalled the shoot
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Miscreants attacked director of upcoming film titled ‘Padmavati’ during its shoot in Jaipur over alleged objectionable scene between the characters of a Muslim ruler and a Hindu princess.
A group of extremists thrashed the ‘Devdas’ director in Jaipur of Rajasthan over accusations of keeping a dream sequence of romance between Muslim ruler, Allauddin Khilji and Rajput princess, Rani Padmavati in his upcoming film.
In an official statement issued on behalf of the director by makers of the film, it has been cleared that no such objectionable sequence is there in the movie.
It should be mentioned here that Bhansali has directed ‘Padmavati’ opera in Paris to packed houses and earned global appreciation for the piece of art.
In reaction to disrupted shoot of the film, maker of critically acclaimed ‘Black Friday and modern day spinoff of ‘Devdas’ named ‘Dev D’, Anurag Kashyap tweeted ‘Hindu extremism is not a myth anymore.’

Many other notable persons reacted to the Jaipur incident calling it a suppression of filmmaker’s freedom of expression, Meanwhile, chief of Indian censor board who earned top spots in news over infamous ‘Udta Punjab’ controversy, Pahlaj Nihalani condemned the attack and called for required action.
Reportedly, Bhansali, who has been vocal about his love for Rajasthan and the culture, and has shot two films there, is disillusioned and dejected as a source close to him revealed that he plans to never shoot there.
