Pakistani artists demand banning advertisements featuring Indian celebrities
They pronounced that PEMRA has taken a fine action of banning the Indian content.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistani artists have praised the decision of government to ban Indian content in cinemas and on TV channels.
Numerous artists including Shehzad Raza, Amna Sheikh, Sarwat Gilani, Bushra Ansari, Ahsan Khan, Faisal Qureshi, Aijaz Aslam, Abdullah Kadwani, Abid Ali, Rabiya Noreen, Sunita Marshal, Shamoon Abbasi, singer Saleem Javed, Hassan Jehangir, Ashiq Ahmad, Farman Khan, singer Sajjad Khan, producer Barkat Siddiqui, Hassan Zia, actor and producer Naheed Shabbir, Gazala Javed, Sidra Jabbar, Qawi Khan and others have hoped that the policy also continue in the future so that the new generation can find interest in Pakistani movies and dramas.
They pronounced that PEMRA has taken a fine action of banning the Indian content but this should be permanent and not temporary so that production of Pakistan’s TV channels and projects of the artists can augment.
The artists said that the Indian content can never be aired in a situation when their artists are being ill-treated in neighbouring country.
Pakistani films are now being shown in the cinemas. Eid releases and other movies such as Mah-e-Mir and Karachi Se Lahore are being screened that have emboldened the producers.
The producers are of the view that Indian movies had taken possession of their cinemas but now after the ban their movies are doing good business.
Actor Nadeem, Mustafa Qureshi, Fahad Mustafa, Yasir Nawaz, Danish Nawaz, Mehwish Hayat, Shaan Shahid, Bilal Ashraf and others said that for the survival of Pakistani film industry it is necessary that Indian movies should be exhibited according to law and on the basis of equality.
They also urged that advertisements of Indian artists should be banned on the channels so that the national advertisement departments can come out of the crisis.
However; they encouraged the screening of English movies but criticized the ones dubbed in Hindi.
