Four cops injured as gunmen open fire on police van in Balakot

BALAKOT (Dunya News) – Four policemen were injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on their van during a routine patrol in Naran Gittidas, Dunya News reported here on Sunday.

The injured have been shifted to Gittidas, Balakot hospital. Having being informed, police high-ups and a heavy contingent of police reached the crime scene.

Police were collecting forensic evidence and recording statements from area people, with cordoning off surrounding areas to track down the fleeing attackers.

According to DPO, the police personnel were targeted when they were patrolling the area to ensure law and order. He vowed to arrest the perpetrators at the earliest, saying the culprits will be brought to justice.

He expressed solidarity with the families of the injured policemen and prayed for their early recovery.
