FIA arrests 13 member gang involved in hawala and hundi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken action in the country’s economic hub. In a series of raids, a 13-member gang has been arrested. The gang was involved in hawala and hundi, allegedly sending money and aid to their Pakistani networks at the behest of an external intelligence.
According to the FIA Sindh spokesperson, the team raided four different locations in the city on the tip off intelligence agencies and arrested 13 individuals involved in hawala and hundi and illegal activities. The arrested suspects also include employees of a private money exchange company.
The FIA spokesperson further stated that 18,000 US dollars, 22.3 million Pakistani rupees and other foreign currency were recovered from the accused. The accused were involved in hawala and hundi to their Pakistani networks at the behest of an external intelligence.
The arrested individuals had been providing sensitive information about Pakistan to foreign agencies. The gang had also been involved in providing back up to hostile elements. While this group had been active in Pakistan for the last 7 years.
