Chung incident: Police record victims' statements

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Police recorded statements of the victims who were allegedly raped by a rickshaw driver and his accomplice near LDA Avenue locality of provincial capital.

In her statement to the police, the mother said that they decided Rs 300 fare with the Rickshaw driver from Thokar Niaz Baig to Saddar adding that she was only visiting Lahore for the second time so she was not aware of the route. She said that the driver and his accomplice drove the rickshaw into a housing scheme where they raped us on gunpoint.

“I begged them not to rape my daughter,” she said.

On the other hand, the victim girl has stated that she told the accused that her mother is a heart patient and begged not to assault her.

“Accused Omar abused both of us while Mansab only abused my mother,” girl told police.

Earlier police arrested two suspects who raped woman and her daughter in rickshaw late night in Lahore.

One of the accused identified as Umar Farooq has a criminal record including rape cases in Okara and Lahore and sources claimed that he was recently released in a rape case.

The other accused name Mansab was arrested from rural area by Investigation Wing of Police.

As per First Information Report (FIR), the 35-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter arrived from Vehari in Lahore at around 10pm to meet their relative. They hopped inside a rickshaw for Cantt, but then the driver drove them to LDA Avenue in the dark of the night.

The driver and his accomplice allegedly raped the mother-daughter duo and abandoned the rickshaw and fled when victims cried for help and a private car stopped to inquire about the situation.
