Lahore airport authorities detain woman over smuggling heroin

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Security officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore foiled an effort on Monday to smuggle heroin abroad.

According to details, the security authorities detained a woman who was trying to smuggle 500g heroin to Sri Lanka.

The heroin is said to be worth more than Rs50 lac and was filled in capsules.

The woman was given in the custody of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further interrogation.

Passengers are usually seen trying to carry drugs, gold or currency abroad illegally but are nabbed by the security officials during checking. In the past two weeks, two such attempts were also thwarted by the ANF at the airport.

Custom officials on November 18 while conducting action at Allama Iqbal International Airport prevented an attempt to smuggle 7kg’s of gold and arrested one suspect whereas heroin smuggling bid to Europe on November 12 was also foiled.

The force seized at least 70 capsules filled with heroin during checking after boarding the plane.
