KANPUR (Web Desk) - Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has equaled the Test cricket world record for the most Player of the Series awards, also held by Sri Lanka's legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.

India clinched the Test series against Bangladesh 2-0, with Ashwin showcasing exceptional performances both with bat and ball.

In the Chennai Test, he scored a crucial century and took a total of 11 wickets during the series, earning him the Player of the Series award.

With this award, Ashwin has now matched Muralitharan’s record of 11 Player of the Series awards, achieved over 56 Test series. Ashwin has achieved this in just 35 series, making him the quicker of the two in terms of matches played.

It's noteworthy that Muralitharan holds the record for the most wickets in Test cricket, with 800, while Ashwin has claimed 527 wickets in 102 Tests to date.
