Summary Britain says its armed forces remain fully prepared to defend the country following an Iranian warning over US bomber operations.
LONDON (Reuters) – Britain said on Thursday that its armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country after Iran's Revolutionary Guards warned over the use of UK bases by US bombers.
A UK government spokesperson said the country's military remains on constant readiness to respond to any threat, whether originating domestically or from abroad.
"Our Armed Forces are ready to keep the United Kingdom safe from any kind of attacks, whether on our soil or from abroad. The UK stands ready 24/7 to defend itself," the spokesperson said.
The government added that Britain's defence relies on a layered air and missile defence system operated by the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, all equipped with advanced capabilities.
The spokesperson also stressed that the UK continues to work closely with its NATO allies to strengthen collective defence and maintain national security.
