Jose lived humble, modest life and used locally produced commodities
(Web Desk) - Jose Paulino Gomes, who was thought to be the oldest man in the world, passed suddenly at home in Corrego do Cafe, Brazil, only a few days before his 128th birthday. He left behind a legacy that spanned more than a century.
Jose was born on August 4, 1895, according to his 1917 marriage certificate, and experienced significant historical events including the first proms, the first rugby league football game, and the discovery of X-rays.
Willyan Jose Rodrigues de Souza, a legal expert, stated that Jose was born in the late 1800s and that his age was correct. If de Souza is right, Jose will surpass Maria Branyas Morera of Spain, who now holds the record with 115.
Jose lived a humble and modest life, working as an animal trainer and depending on locally produced commodities and things derived from natural resources.
His seven children, 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren all warmly remember him.
"His uniqueness was that he didn't like anything industrialised, only things from the countryside, natural. He raised chickens, pigs... His food was all from here, had to be grown or raised here. And he always liked to have a little drink," Jose's granddaughter Eliane Ferreira said.
Jose's granddaughter Fabiola Oliveira claimed that he used to ride horses up until four years ago.
"He quit riding horses four years ago. He was in bed for nearly a month, she claimed.
Eliane, Jose's granddaughter, added that although his documentation could have been incorrect due to rural norms, his family was certain of Jose's age since they knew he had lived for more than a century.
According to Jose's granddaughter Eliane Ferreira, "people are usually registered here in the country when they are older."
Several cases have incomplete or inaccurate documentation. His paperwork, however, indicated that he was younger than he actually was.
There is a 98-year-old woman nearby, the speaker said. She claims to have known him as a little boy. We checked the register office to see what was accurate since we were wondering about his age at that point. He was clearly older than 100, at least 110.
Now, we need to know how the death certificate will reflect that.
He was buried after passing away from multiple organ failure, which was only normal given his late age.
Although Guinness World Records has not yet formally recognised Jose's status, the Brazilian countryside mourns the passing of a man whose long life was matched only by the beautiful memories he created with his loved ones.
