As the international community stirred to the news of a violation of the Line of Control by India on Tuesday, world powers started weighing in on the situation.
China: China urged India and Pakistan on Tuesday to "exercise restraint" after Indian Air Force (IAF) jets violated Pakistani airspace, in a move that sent tensions soaring between the arch-rivals over disputed Kashmir.
"We hope that both India and Pakistan can exercise restraint and adopt actions that will help stabilise the situation in the region and improve mutual relations," China’s foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said.
European Union (EU): The EU on Tuesday called on Islamabad and New Delhi to exercise “maximum restraint” after Indian warplanes entered into Pakistani airspace, sending tensions soaring between the nuclear-armed arch-rivals.
“We remain in contact with both countries and what we believe is essential is that all exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalation of tensions,” EU spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic told reporters.
Australia: "Australia urges both sides to exercise restraint, avoid any action which would endanger peace and security in the region, and engage in dialogue to ensure that these issues are resolved peacefully."
Iran: Reacting to the developments following the strike by the Indian Air Force in Pakistan, the Foreign Ministry of Iran called upon the two neighbours to resolve disputes and problems peacefully through dialogue.
