Typhoon Parma halts life, traffic blocked in Taiwan

Floods and landslides blocked traffic in Taiwan as typhoon Parma lingered at sea south of the island on Monday and brought torrential rain to the northeastern Yilan County, where farms were damaged and classes were cancelled in the afternoon. On the major eastern Su-hua Highway, landslide caused by the typhoon blocked the entrance of a tunnel and put traffic on halt while an excavator cleared the road.
