Bangkok: thousands protest outside UN office

Summary

Some 3,000 protesters demonstrated in Bangkok on Monday, calling on world leaders to take immediate and tougher action to fight global warming. Local and international activists from different countries marched for two kilometres to the United Nations building, where climate change talks continue into a second week before a gathering in Copenhagen in December. The protesters urged governments around the world to complete their negotiations and take immediate action, saying that the destruction and loss of human life suffered in a recent spate of sever storms are a sign that damage has already been done. On the other hand, UN has issued Human Development report 2009 that has focused on rehabilitation of immigrants looking for work.
