(Web Desk) – Facebook has stepped further into the peer-to-peer (P2P) shared consumption technology by launching its very own marketplace for cars which will connect car dealers and buyers and bring them together for trade.

In the profile options where it has already placed special options for shopping, finding jobs and other features, there is a new icon called “Vehicles” with a picture of car on it. It will allow users to search cars with filters like manufacturer, model, type, mileage, transmission and more.

People will be enabled to review the prices and compare them against dealers. Facebook has roped in a number of dealers and car websites like Edmunds, Auction123, Cars.com, CDK Global, SocialDealer and more. Prices of the cars can checked against Kelly’s Blue Book, according to TechCrunch.

Users can contact the specific car dealer to know more about buying their desired model as Messenger app is also connected with it. When reached for comment, Facebook manager Bowen Pan said, “Autos are one of the most popular categories of Marketplace. Millions in the US alone are searching for used cars, motorbikes, and other vehicle listings.”

Connecting people to buy vehicles is a part of its peer-to-peer classifieds directory which was launched last year. It is efficiently working in the US and elsewhere as people have connected with the brands to buy products given in the thousands of listings posted regularly.

The social media giant encourages manufacturers and dealers of all sorts to advertise their products or services, and helps them sell more through the new media platform.

Earlier, the social media platform had facilitated the users to order meals from nearby restaurants and service providers without leaving the social network. A new "order food" feature was rolled out for US users lets Facebook users order delivery or takeout from restaurant chains such as Papa John s and Panera, and on-demand services including Delivery.com and DoorDash.
