PPP chairman says the writing is on the wall that the future government belongs to the PPP
SUKKUR (Dunya News) – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, has proclaimed that the writing is on the wall that the future government will be led by the PPP.
Addressing a gathering here, Bilawal emphasised that his party was fully prepared for the upcoming elections, no matter these were held in 90 days or at the latest within 120 days. “No one can halt the people from using their franchise right.”
The PPP chairman pledged that despite the constraints of the 18th Amendment, ministries and resources that couldn't be devolved to the provinces would be transferred [once his party assumed power]. He expressed his commitment to completing the remaining tasks related to provincial autonomy which, according to him, would save Rs100 billion, to be reinvested in the provinces.
The PPP chief refrained from making any promises affirming, "Unlike the PTI chairman, we won't make empty promises. The PPP has consistently delivered on its commitments to the public. We pledge that, once in power, subsidies, relief, and tax exemptions, which previously favored the elites and aristocrats, will benefit the impoverished masses."
Bilawal invited the young generation to join the PPP, saying, "When I served as foreign minister, I demonstrated that given the chance, youth can excel. I have represented the country on the international stage and worked for flood victims, and such tasks can only be accomplished by the PPP. "
Bilawal also promised to hold the elites accountable for the hardships facing the common man, remarking that in times of hardship, the elites and the wealthy tended to sacrifice the common people, but his party would hold these elites accountable.
Showcasing his party’s accomplishments in the healthcare sector in Sindh, the PPP chairman promised to replicate this success in other ministries if they assumed power. "We invite scrutiny of our claims. Let the NICVD, SIUT, and other healthcare institutions confirm our achievements. We have opened these institutions to serve those who cannot afford treatment at the Agha Khan Hospital. Our efforts are geared towards helping the underprivileged, not the elites."
Bilawal reiterated that the poor people were currently grappling with historic inflation and unemployment, and only the PPP could lead them out of these challenges. "Our party not only provides homes to people but also grants them ownership rights, ensuring that their houses cannot be demolished by future rulers. Therefore, we prioritize granting ownership rights, especially considering instances where judges and others have taken away people's homes. We are transforming our slogan of food, shelter and clothing into reality," averred Bilawal, joined by his sister Aseefa Bhutto.
The PPP chairman lamented that another chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) was nearing the end of his tenure, yet their case (related to the judicial murder of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto) remained pending. “The leader of the people, instead of delivering justice, was executed. Justice must be served," added Bilawal.
The PPP chairman also came down hard on the PTI chief saying the people had rejected the cricketer, and his return won't be allowed.
Both Bilawal and Aseefa distributed land allotment orders to homeless individuals and those affected during an operation to clear encroachments along the riverbanks in Sukkur.
Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Murad Ali Shah, former federal minister Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah and others also addressed the gathering.
