IHC adjourns PTI chairman's appeal in Toshakhana case till tomorrow

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday adjourned hearing into the PTI chairman's appeal against the sentence in Toshakhana case till tomorrow (Friday).
A two-member bench headed by Justice Aamir Farooq heard the appeal against the sentence of the PTI chief and the request for suspension of sentence in the Toshakhana criminal case.
The counsel for the Election Commission (ECP) argued before the IHC.
On Wednesday, the court had ordered the Attock jail authorities allow Babar Awan and Latif Khosa to see the PTI chairman.
It may be recalled that the PTI chairman has requested transfer of his cases from the IHC to Lahore or Peshawar high courts.
HEARING IN SUPREME COURT
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court adjourned the case and said it would wait for the IHC decision.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial heard the case.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the CJP had remarked that the order of the trial court in the Toshakhana case was not correct; the judge of the trial court made decision in haste.
CJP Bandial remarked that the IHC asked to decide on the Toshakhana case in seven days and the trial court decided in a single day.
The CJP observed that the apex court could intervene if there are legal lacunae in any decision.
On August 5, a trial court in Islamabad found the PTI chief guilty of “corrupt practices” in a case pertaining to concealing details of state gifts and sentenced him to three years in prison.
