Governor violated constitution; Farrukh lashes out at Baligh-ur-Rehman

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Farrukh Habib has lashed out at Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman and said that the governor s action to de-notify Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi is unconstitutional, Dunya News reported.
Reacting to Governor Punjab s action, Farrukh Habib said that this is an attack on provincial autonomy and violation of the constitution.
He said that this action of the Governor Punjab is a violation of the constitution and has no legal status. Pervaiz Elahi is the still the chief minister as per the constitution and he will continue to perform his duties.

Farrukh Habib was of the view that Governor is playing the role of a puppet and someone else is pulling the strings of these unconstitutional moves. The elected Chief Minister of Pakistan s largest province cannot be unconstitutionally removed.
Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman on Thursday night de-notified Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi upon latter s failure to obtain vote of confidence at the appointed day and time of 21 December 2022 at 4:00 p.m.
It has been said in the notification issued in this regard that it is believed that the Chief Minister does not have the confidence of the majority of the members of the assembly.
The notification further stated that the Punjab cabinet has been dissolved.
According to the notification, Pervaiz Elahi will continue to hold office until the election of the new leader of the House.
