ECC imposes levy of up to Rs 12/kg on LPG

Economic Coordination Committee has approved levy of Rs 10 to 12/kg on liquid petroleum gas.

The meeting of ECC was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, which discussed LPG policy for 2011. The meeting decided that levy would be imposed on local production of 100 dollar to 120 dollar per ton.Under the new policy, OGRA would issue licenses to LPG marketing companies on provincial basis within a year. The licenses of those companies would be cancelled which supply more than five ton per day. OGRA will talk to the companies for conversion of vehicles to LPG and establishing LPG filling stations.The committee also approved the distribution of gas purchased from Iran between Sui Southern and Sui Northern companies. The committee also approved import of 75,000 ton urea fertilizers.
