ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday took notice of man-handling of the daughter of Afghanistan Ambassador to Pakistan Najibullah Alikhel.

The prime minister directed the concerned authorities to take every possible step to arrest the culprits behind man-handling of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter and bring out the facts within 48 hours.

While issuing directives, Imran Khan said that Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, Islamabad police and law-enforcement agencies should investigate the matter on priority basis.

He said that all agencies should cooperate with the federal police in investigating the matter.

on the other hand, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that Islamabad police is in constant touch with the Afghan ambassador and the girl and all steps are being taken to arrest the culprits.

Speaking exclusively to Dunya News, he said that the daughter of Afghan envoy had hired a taxi.

Sh Rasheed said that action will be taken on the statement of the ambassador’s daughter. According to ambassador’s daughter, she was physically tortured in the first taxi.

The minister said, "She has not given written statement until now, however, the second taxi driver has been traced but the search is continued for tracing the other taxi driver."

Earlier, Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said that the security authorities are trying to arrest culprits behind man-handling of the daughter of Afghanistan Ambassador to Pakistan Najibullah Alikhel and assured that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

Responding to media queries regarding the man-handling of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter, the FO spokesperson said that as reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Embassy of Afghanistan in Islamabad, the daughter of the ambassador Silsila Alikhil was assaulted on July 16 while riding a rented vehicle.

“Immediately after this disturbing incident was reported, the Islamabad Police launched a thorough investigation. The MOFA and relevant security authorities are closely in contact with the ambassador and his family and extending full support in the matter,” the FO said.

Chaudhri also maintained that while the security of the envoy and his family has been beefed up, law enforcement agencies are trying to trace and apprehend the culprits to be brought to justice.

He reiterated that the safety and security of the diplomatic missions, as well as the diplomats and their families, is of utmost importance. “Such incidents can and will not be tolerated,” it added.
