One killed, two injured in alleged 'police encounter' in Karachi
Police also informed that no criminal record of the dead and injured was found.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – One person was killed and two other were injured in an alleged police encounter in Mehran Town area of Korangi in Karachi on Tuesday night, Dunya News reported.
According to police, a police party reached Mehran Town in response to a call on 15 about a robbery where an encounter took place during which one person was killed and two other were wounded.
The deceased was identified as Atta Ullah and injured were identified as Qaisar and Shahzad. Police also informed that no criminal record of the dead and injured was found while no arms were recovered from their possession.
On the other hand, Qaiser, who was injured in the alleged police encounter, said in a statement said that they were returning from duty at a factory near Chamra Courangi when they saw some dacoits riding on motorcycle looting people.
He said that he and other people were also robbed by the dacoits. After looting the people dacoits managed to escape from the scene.
Qaisar further said that they informed police on 15 about the incident. A police party reached the spot after 10 minutes and opened indiscriminate firing killing his brother and a nephew while a laborer was also wounded by police firing.
Meanwhile, SSP Korangi Faisal Abdullah Chachar in a statement said that SSP Landhi was conducting a full investigation into the incident.
