Senate chairman postpones session for indefinite period

Zafarul Haq said the opposition doesnt want to take part in the discussion over no-trust motion.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Tuesday postponed session of the Upper House of the Parliament for an indefinite period on the suggestion for the Leader of Opposition in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq.

As the Senate session started, Leader of Opposition in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq said that the opposition doesn’t want to take part in the discussion over no-trust motion under Opposition Senate Rules 218.

He said that the opposition want the House to table no-confidence motion. The Senate chairman after listening to Raja Zafarul Haq postponed the session for an indefinite period.

It its ruling, Sanjrani said that the notice to remove chairman or deputy chairman Upper House can only be issued during the session.

He further said that the notice of the resolution to dethrone Senate chairman doesn’t fulfil its conditions.

On the other hand, Leader of the House Senator Shibli Faraz hosted a luncheon in honor of the ruling party senators.

He claimed that the majority of the senators were with them, however, not a single senator from Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Balochistan National Party (BNP) attended the luncheon.
