Around 500 constables in Railway Police would be appointed

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Monday said that progress and prosperity of Pakistan depends upon good performance of Railways.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Railway Station, he said that the number of Freight Trains had been increased from six to eight and soon the number would further be increased to ten.

Rasheed added that a combined force consisting of Railway Police, Levies and Frontier Corps would soon be established for protecting Sibi-Harnai Railway Section.

Responding to a question, the minister said that the Sibi-Harnai section would again be made functional within four months.

To another question, Sheikh Rasheed said that the fares of Akbar Bugti Express and Bolan Mail had also been decreased, adding that 500 more constables in Railway Police would be appointed.

“The number of different vacancies in Pakistan Railways would be increased to 10,000 after consultation with Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he said and accused the previous government for wasting national treasury through renovation of unnecessary railway stations for high rates in the country.

The minister maintained that fence would be erected around all railway tracks across the country for the sake of protection of passengers and to avoid accidents.
